DESCRIPTION
More comfort at the saddle means you’ll be able to ride longer, go faster, and maintain control even on the roughest terrain. The optimized four-bar linkage ensures that your saddle angle remains constant through the full range of travel.

Benefits:

  • Sporty Performance - 35mm of damped suspension travel, providing the perfect choice for riders who want lots of suspension travel in a lightweight package and highly tunable stiffness.
  • Tunability - This new design features a combination of elastomers and coil springs for a more progressive spring rate and controlled travel while still maintaining small bump sensitivity and low weight. Swappable elastomers and springs allow you to change the suspension stiffness, while a preload adjustment lets you dial in the perfect feel.
  • Lightweight - up to 13% weight reduction (up to 74 grams!) than the equivalent set-up in the standard ShockStop Seatpost and ultra-sleek styling
  • Go farther - reducing fatigue from bumps and vibrations
  • Ride faster - energy that is normally wasted suspending your body is converted into forward motion
  • Improve control - float over obstacles
  • For the ultimate suspension system, pair with the ShockStop PRO Stem or ShockStop Stem
  • Looking for fine-tuned race performance & ultra-lightweight? Choose the ShockStop PRO Race Seatpost

What is a Suspension Seatpost?

A suspension seatpost is a specially designed bicycle seatpost featuring shock absorbing construction that helps smooth out bumps in the terrain and reduce the impact to the rider. They are best suited for gravel biking and bikepacking applications but are also used on road bikes to help riders stay in the saddle through rough roads.

The Shockstop suspension seatposts feature a proprietary parallelogram design, which allows for the suspension to remain active even when you're seated and pedaling. This means that you can benefit from the suspension's smoothing effect even when you're putting down power, unlike some suspension seatposts that become rigid when you're pedaling. For an ultralight, race-tuned version, choose the ShockStop PRO Suspension Seatpost.

The minimal design of the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost blends seamlessly with the aesthetic of modern gravel, road, and e-bikes. Along with the ShockStop Suspension Stem, this suspension system works together to reduce fatigue and strain, letting you ride farther, faster, and more comfortably.

Benefits of a Suspension Seatpost

Improved comfort: Suspension seatposts help to absorb shocks and vibrations from rough roads, reducing stress and fatigue on your body, especially your hands, arms, and back. This can lead to a more comfortable ride and reduced risk of injury.

Improved control: By absorbing shock and vibrations, a suspension seatpost can help to maintain traction and stability on rough roads, allowing you to ride with more confidence and control.

Reduced fatigue: By reducing the amount of stress and fatigue on your body, a suspension seatpost can help you to conserve energy and ride for longer without feeling as tired.

Better performance: By allowing you to maintain traction and control on rough roads, a suspension seatpost can help you to ride faster and more efficiently, especially on technical terrain.

What kind of saddle bags can I use with the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost?

Most standard strap-based saddle bags will fit the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost without issue. If your saddle bag uses rigid clips, clamps, or some other inflexible attachment method, it's possible that your bag may not be compatible.
Any bag that just attaches to the saddle or just attaches to the post is fine. But when you attach to both the post and the saddle you need to account for the relative motion of the saddle to the post. This means that if you cinch down the bag when off the bike it might have some movement when you get on the saddle and compress the post a bit - this might not be a problem but it might be something that is an issue.
It all really depends on weight and how stable the bag is and if it is attached to both the post and the saddle - it can be fine but with a lot of weight it will mean it can move around when the post is compressed. It will likely come down to testing it out with your specific bag to see how it works. And if you have a bag that is able to be secured to just the post or to the post and a rear rack then you will be all set.

Is the stiffness of the ShockStop Seatpost adjustable?

Absolutely - We designed the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost so that you can adjust it to perfectly match your weight and riding style. The Shockstop PRO Endurance Suspension Seatpost comes preinstalled with inner and outer springs as well as a medium and soft elastomer, plus an additional medium elastomer in the box so that you can adjust the stiffness. The preload adjustment knob at the bottom of the seatpost allows you to adjust the spring preload - the amount of force required to cause the saddle to start moving.

Is a Suspension Seatpost Suitable for Bikepacking?

The Redshift ShockStop PRO Endurance Suspension Seatpost is great way to improve comfort on long and demanding bike packing trips. With a suspension seatpost, bikepackers can go farther, faster and with less fatigue - which means more fun!

Different bikes sometimes have different seatpost diameters. The ShockStop Suspension Seatpost comes in 27.2mm diameter, so if your bike's seatpost is a different size, you'll need a shim to allow the 27.2mm size to adapt to your bike's frame. Don't worry though, the shims are super-lightweight and essentially invisible once installed.

Not sure what size seatpost you have currently? There are a couple different ways to find out.

• Most seatposts have the diameter printed somewhere near the bottom of the post. You'll need to remove the seatpost from the bike frame (mark your existing seatpost height with a bit of tape before you remove it so you can replace it easily), and look for a number like 27.2, 30.9, or 31.6 (etc.). That is the diameter of the post.
• If you know the make, model, and year of your bike, you may be able to look up the seatpost diameter online. Feel free to shoot us an email at info@redshiftsports.com - we'll see if we can help out.
• Ask your local bike shop - they'll be able to accurately measure your bike's seatpost.

Non-compatible posts: Unfortunately, if your bike's seatpost is smaller than 27.2mm (for example, the 25.4mm posts found on some recent model Cannondale Synapses) our seatpost is currently not compatible with your bike. Likewise, if you have a bike with an aero/oval/non-round seatpost, or if your bike has an integrated seatmast, the seatpost is also not compatible.

What length should I choose? 280mm or 350mm?

Measure your current seatpost from the clamp collar to the saddle rail:

  • If that distance is less than 205mm, you can use the 280mm suspension seatpost.
  • If it is between 205mm and 250/275mm (depending on diameter) order the 350mm size.
